IPC-J-STD-001-S SPACE ADDENDUM

REQUIREMENTS FOR SOLDERED ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLIES

The IPC J-STD-001-S Space Addendum Training and Certification course is an add-on module to the IPC-J-STD-001.

The course has been developed by IPC alongside industry professionals from NASA due to a growing need to focus on specific and very different space-based electronics applications. A lot of professional knowledge has been incorporated by NASA, including how space electronics requirements deviate from the standard training, and it brings into focus a number of issues that only apply to space applications.

The Space add-on module is important for everyone who deals with solder connections within the space industry, whether it be setting up processes, or inspecting this type of electronics.

Those who want to follow this module must already be certified for IPC J-STD-001.

This course may be useful and interesting for employees in a range of different companies, but its target is primarily aimed at those which produce electronics for use within space technology. Employers will benefit greatly from employee certification in this extra module.

Once successfully completed, you will have gained knowledge about all the specific requirements for electronics used space applications, and have an understanding about how they differ from the standard IPC J-STD-001 criteria. Undertaking this course allows those who inspect electronics that are going to be used in space travel to make informed decisions about whether the electronics meet the requirements that apply. In the long-term, this results in fewer mistakes and better decisions with a much greater impact towards stable growth in the space industry.
